Don't Be Overcome by Fear featuring Erwin McManus

Page 1

This session is all about helping us overcome our fears. Check out this short video that shows a high school kid on the free throw line with the game on the line. I got goose bumps just watching this clip!

I love how scared that kid looked at first, but then the confidence you saw because he was prepared. Take a moment in prayer. Ask God to reveal areas in your leadership where you can become more prepared.

Erwin McManus is the pastor at Mosaic Church in Los Angeles. In this video, he talks about how Jonathan was willing to act in faith even when he wasn't sure if God would bless his actions.

Does your small group use prayer as an excuse not to act? How can you lead your group to become people of prayer, but not at the expense of action?

Erwin said that there is so much good to do if we would just take initiative. What is the "good" that your small group could do if your people would be more proactive? What can you do to help motivate your people?

Below is the story of Brian, a young guy who decided he was going to take initiative and make a difference. Brian decided to trade in some of his personal down time to teach Special Olympics basketball.

I just love that story because I think it perfectly illustrates our dilemma. Brian clearly saw the good that needed to be done and was able to overcome his personal doubts by just going after it. What's so cool is that Brian was blessed by it and so were the kids and families of the people he coached.
Please know that I am praying for you and your group. I hope you will "just do something." Please let me know in the box below if there is anything I can do to help you take action.
