Reflections of God's Relational Glory

The New Canaan Society exists to inspire a global connected network of men who are committed to friendship with Jesus and each other. At their 2013 Washington Weekend, Larry Crabb, psychologist, author, speaker, and the founder of NewWay Ministries, used the relational nature of the Trinity as a basis for calling on us, as God's image bearers, to live relationally in such a way that points glory to God.

Dr. Crabb said that we are all suffering from a mortal wound. It is a stubborn passion in our souls to keep ourselves from feeling any shame or injury.

How do you experience this mortal wound? Dr. Crabb has struggled with a fear of stuttering in front of audiences. What does fearing shame do to hinder your ministry?

Where have you faced disappointment in life because God did not orchestrate your circumstances the way you expected? How can you embrace disappointment so that God is glorified in it?

Dr. Crabb brought all of this together by declaring that at the core of the believer's soul is a love for God. If we put that first, then all the relationships in our lives will reflect the change that God wants to see in us.

What "second things" in your life compete for the "first thing" of sending glory to God? How do you keep first things first?

"The Father gave Jesus the glory in the incarnation of putting deity on display in humanity, and that's our calling."

Dr. Crabb stopped short of explaining the way we practically put the relational glory of God on display, but said he would cover that in a future message. To hear Putting The Relational Glory of God on Display featuring Larry Crabb, click here.
