3 - The Body of Christ

Know Your Limits

Ministry can be overwhelming, and leaders can begin to feel responsible for all help and healing. What’s the real value in referring people to counseling professionals, though? In this final session, Jen will talk about how knowing your limits in ministry can grow and strengthen the body of Christ.

Jen also said that it’s a beautiful place in ministry when you realize “it’s not all on you.” Do you feel like you’ve reached that place in your personal ministry yet? (You can be honest.) If so, what helped you get there? If not, what’s holding you back?

Jen said the most loving thing we can do for people who are hurting is refer them to the most qualified people for help. Do you agree with her? Why or why not? What makes sense about what she has to say? What makes referral loving?

Ultimately, referral is a loving and selfless way to serve because it empowers others to experience the joy of helping and also provides the best care possible for the person who is hurting. As you continue on in ministry, be intentional in creating relationships with people you know can bless and help others in ways you can’t. The body of Christ is wide and vast and full of all kinds of gifts the Lord wants to use for the good of His people.
